There are a few important pieces of legislation that the Friends would like to update you about. Most important to us are the proposed budget amendments to fund our Master Plan to the tune of $15 million per year for two years.

We did it!
Thank you! Richmond City leaders heard our message and on October 25th voted to adopt the Mayor’s proposed spending plan for the $155 million funding. $78 million of those dollars will be used to make an unprecedented investment in our parks and community centers.
Parks and Community Centers are Upstream Solutions

Tell City Council You Support $78 Million for Parks & Community Centers
On September 13th, Richmond Mayor Lavar Stoney presented his plan for allocating $155 million in American Rescue Plan funds. The plan directs $78 million towards parks and community centers. Please do your part to support the James River Park.

There’s a quote out there about the power of a group. It alludes to the fact that one person doing something small may not make a difference, but a lot of people, each doing that small thing, can exact a colossal change.
Universal Access at Huguenot Flatwater is Fully Funded!
Improving access to the James River within the James River Park System is a priority of the James River Outdoor Coalition (JROC). The James River Park System’s Huguenot Flatwater area is now one step closer to having a universally accessible access ramp!
My 2019 in Review
Since I’ve arrived in Richmond, my window overlooking the James River has shown me many great things and I’ve seen the wonderful opportunities the City has to offer. This past year or so has certainly given me much to reflect upon.
