We’ll see you at Shiver in the River!

For the past six years, our friends over at Keep Virginia Beautiful have hosted the Shiver in the River, at Tredegar Street, alongside the James River.  This is an exciting event to aid programs that support litter prevention, community outreach, education, recycling and beautification for Richmond and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

As always, this event has something for everyone!

  • 10:00am: The day of events starts with the Community Clean-Up at 10am.
  • 12:00pm: At noon, the 5K Walk/Run takes runners across the James River in a scenic walk/run – This is open to anyone willing to help raise some money via their fundraising page.
  • 1:30pm:  The now-infamous James River Jump LEAP happens at 1:30pm (see what they did there?  This is a “leap year”…clever…). This fundraising Jump will take place along the chilly banks of the James right by Historic Tredegar. Wearing fun, crazy costumes is highly encouraged!

And throughout the day, the Winter Festival is happening from 11:00pm-4:00pm.

Pre and Post James River Jump, the event hosts a celebratory festival to thank sponsors, participants and volunteers who participate in the event. The winter festival will include heated tents, food and beverage vendors, live music, and a fun environmental atmosphere. Friends of the James River Park will be on-hand to keep the public apprised of ongoing conservation efforts as they relate to the James River Park.

Live entertainment schedule:

  • Strummer
  • Craig’s List Jerry
  • MOZO

Food trucks will be on site for food purchase:
Espresso A Go Go, Grateful Grill, Intergalactic Tacos, plus more …
Beer Selection: Coming soon

Come on out and help us celebrate this annual tradition! Volunteer, run/walk, eat, drink, leap in the James, and do your part while having a great day on the shores of the James!
