James River Park

Natural Resources Management Plan

The Natural Resources Management Plan is a blueprint for the future health and resilience of the James River Park System. We worked with Park staff, subject matter experts, and our friends at the Virginia Department of Forestry to develop this plan.

To understand, protect, and enhance the Park’s diverse ecosystems, the plan addresses strategic invasive species management; native habitat restoration; sustainable resource use to balance recreation with ecological preservation; and capacity building to expand staffing and involve volunteers towards natural resource stewardship.

This powerful tool will enable us to make informed decisions and implement effective conservation actions that will benefit generations to come.
