Thanks for Everything, Josh!

The Search is ON for Our New Executive Director!

Josh Stutz, Executive Director of the Friends of the James River Park (FOJRP), will be leaving his role later this month. Under his leadership, FOJRP has grown from a group of volunteers into a highly visible and respected organization working to support and enhance the James River Park System (JRPS). Stutz’s efforts led to many Park enhancements and to the creation of a Natural Resource Management Plan to guide decisions around invasive species management, native habitat restoration, and sustainable resource use within the James River Park System (JRPS). Josh has accepted a statewide development position with a national conservation organization.

“We are sad to see Josh go but are happy for him to have this opportunity” says Dave Broocke, president of the Board. “Josh was the first Executive Director for FOJRP and helped the organization to become more prominent, prolific, and professional. We will always be indebted to him.””My tenure as the inaugural Executive Director of FOJRP has been immensely rewarding,” Stutz remarked. “It has been a distinct privilege to build and guide this organization to its current level of success. I have complete confidence in the Board of Directors and look forward to the innovative direction they will pursue under a new Executive Director. My dedication to the James River Park System remains steadfast. I will continue to utilize the Park and will contribute my efforts through specific volunteer opportunities where my expertise can be most impactful.”

Friends of the James River Park is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to support, enhance, and protect the James River Park System. FOJRP raises significant funds annually to help fund conservation and recreational opportunities in the James River Park. FOJRP works in close partnership with Richmond’s Department of Parks and Recreation and the James River Park System, providing resources and support to achieve its goals.

“We have established a recruiting committee and will be actively looking for a new Executive Director who can help us carry out this important work,” said Broocke. “If you are passionate about the James River Park System, please follow us on our social media and website for more information on how to apply.” Friends of the James River Park can be reached at www.jamesriverpark.org and @jamesriverpark on Instagram and Facebook.
