Support Park Funding!

Good afternoon Friends!

I hope everyone is finally getting a chance to enjoy this nice Spring weather. While we have been hard at work prepping for our upcoming projects and programs, the Mayor has proposed $1,000,000 for James River Park System Master Plan implementation as part of Richmond’s budget for next year. This funding will help complete more projects to enhance the Park in accordance with the JRPS Master Plan. This is a massive increase in capital project funding for the Park, and we are grateful to our City of Richmond partners for prioritizing JRPS infrastructure this year.

This is not a done deal and we still need your help. Our friends in the Richmond City Council still have to approve this budget, and we need you to let them know that you support this important investment in the James River Park System. I am asking you to please contact your City Council representatives and let them know that you support the Parks and Recreation Capital Projects Budget as proposed by the Mayor.

You can find contact information for your Richmond City Council members here- https://www.rva.gov/richmond-city-council/council-contacts

Many of our council members and City partners are avid users and supporters of the Park. Please remember to be courteous and friendly when letting them know that you support this proposed budget.

Friends of the James River Park will also be increasing our project spending next budget year. We are working with the JRPS team to plan a series of Belle Isle improvement projects that we hope to be able to share with you all in just a few months. We need your involvement to make all of this possible and we are grateful for the trust you place in us as your Park support organization.
