Groceries for Good!

Good morning Friends of the James River Park.

I hope you are all enjoying the Spring weather in the Park. It is wet, yes, but that just means good things are on their way. In just a few weeks the Park will be brimming with new life for all of us to enjoy. We have been hard at work planning for the future of the Park, and we hope to be able to make a few exciting announcements in the next couple of months.

In the meantime, you might have heard about the cancellation of the Amazon Smile program. This was a passive giving program that allowed Amazon customers to make donations through Amazon based on the amount of money they spent each year. The cancellation of this program is disappointing. It never generated a ton of money for the Park, but it was a great way for people to get involved without a lot of extra work.

As an alternative to the Amazon program, I wanted to share with you another great program through which you can support the Park with your every day purchases, the Kroger Community Rewards program.

Kroger Community RewardsKroger’s Community Rewards program is a philanthropic initiative by the Kroger grocery store chain that allows customers to support local nonprofits and community organizations. Under the program, customers enroll in the rewards program and link their Kroger Plus card to a designated nonprofit or community organization of their choice. Whenever they shop at Kroger and use their Kroger Plus card, a portion of their purchases will be automatically donated to the selected organization.

The Community Rewards program is an easy and convenient way for Kroger customers to support the organizations that matter most to them. The program is open to all registered nonprofits and community organizations, and the funds raised through the program can be used to support a wide range of initiatives, such as educational programs, food pantries, and more.

Overall, Kroger’s Community Rewards program is a win-win for customers and local nonprofits and community organizations. By shopping at Kroger, customers can support the organizations they care about and earn rewards for themselves, while organizations can receive much-needed funding for their initiatives.

Please consider linking your Kroger Plus card to Friends of the James River Park! All you have to do is visit https://www.kroger.com/i/community/community-rewards. Once logged into your Kroger account you can search for Friends of the James River Park either by name or QP055 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a Kroger Rewards card.

Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your day to link you Kroger Community Rewards to the James River Park System. The money we raise is spent in support of our mission to protect, expand, and enhance the JRPS.

See you in the Park!
