This fall and winter we will work at different sites on different activities including cutting down invasive shrubs, pulling invasive vine groundcover, and “freeing trees” from invasive vines.  In October we will focus on removal of Amur honeysuckle shrubs.

Work with JRPS and other volunteers to cut down and remove invasive Amur honeysuckle shrubs that have taken over the understory in Pony Pasture.

  • No experience necessary: plant identification and training provided.
  • Volunteers will use handtools (pruners, loppers, and folding handsaws).
  • Tools and work gloves are provided.

Volunteers MUST:

  • Dress appropriately: sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots and long pants that cover ankles. Long-sleeved shirts are recommended.
  • Bring water.
  • Arrive on time for orientation and training.

Please, if you register for this event and then are unable to attend, cancel your registration on Hands-On or otherwise notify the project leader.

Meeting location will be at different areas of the parking lot depending on the work site for the day. Look for  a pick-up truck, either a Richmond city pick-up or a red pick-up.
