08mar10:00 am1:00 pmRISAW: Invasive Plant Removal at East End Cemetery

Event Details

Remove English ivy and reveal hidden history at East End Cemetery. Portions of the historic African American burial ground (est. 1897) remain overrun with invasive vegetation, obscuring graves and markers. We will spend the morning pulling vines, freeing trees, and clearing graves in a corner of the cemetery that needs the most attention from volunteers.

Location: 50 Evergreen Road
Date: Saturday, March 8, 2025
Time: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

We will be removing invasive plants to reveal history and encourage native plant and tree regeneration.

Tools, gloves, water, and snacks will be provided, though we encourage you to bring your own water bottle. We recommend wearing layers, long sleeves, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and sturdy shoes. Children are welcome, as long as they are supervised by an adult.
