Join us for a day of service at Ancarrow’s Landing.
More details to follow.
Please join us for the third annual Richmond Invasive Species Awareness Week, a week of activities focused on invasive species in and around the James River Park System.
Join The James River Park System and Invasive Plant Taskforce as we remove invasive plants from Ancarrow’s Landing and The Richmond Slave Trail to help restore The James River Park’s riparian buffer, natural habitat and tree canopy! We will be using provided hand tools such as saws and pruners to remove invasive shrubs and vines from the interior of the park. Hazards include poison ivy, briars, thorns, and insects. Please dress comfortably as we will be outside for the duration of the project. Regardless of the weather, we strongly recommend wearing long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy shoes to protect yourself from plants such as briars and poison ivy. Volunteers must bring their own water.
Please feel free to bring your favorite tool from home and a pair of gloves that you already own. We look forward to working with you! In the event of storms or heavy rain, this event will be canceled.
Youth under 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the youth waiver: Youth Waiver Form. It can be emailed in advance to gera@jamesriverpark.org or printed and brought to the event. This applies whether or not youth are accompanied by an adult.
Please register in advance HERE to volunteer at any of our invasive species removal and habitat restoration events: https://www.cfengage.org/opportunity/a0CNw00008tqPQ5MAM/richmond-invasive-species-awareness-week-risaw-invasive-species-removal-event
