Join The James River Park System as we tackle removing invasive plants from Reedy Creek. We will focus on removing English Ivy, Winter Creeper, and other invasive plants. Be a part of this initiative to help restore The James River Park’s natural habitat and tree canopy! Volunteers will be using small hand tools such as loppers and hand saws. All tools and gloves will be provided by JRPS. Please feel free to bring your favorite tool from home and a pair of gloves that you already own. Please bring water and a snack, wear closed-toe shoes and dress comfortably as we will be outside for the duration of the project. Regardless of the weather, we strongly recommend wearing long sleeves and long pants to protect yourself from plants such as briars and poison ivy. Please bring your own sunscreen, bug spray, and any other items to help you feel more protected working outdoors. This event will be canceled in case of storms and heavy rain. We look forward to working with you!
PLEASE NOTE: Park in the Reedy Creek parking lot, walk over the railroad tracks and take a right through the black chain link fence. Continue walking to our meet-up location which will be the gray building on your left. This is simply the meeting place to gather tools and proceed to our worksite. The worksite varies from week to week. Please do try to arrive by 4 pm so that you are able to find the team and receive your site orientation and tools.
