This June and July  invasive plant management at Pony Pasture will focus on removal of invasive shrubs in trail corridors and some “Free A Tree”, but project leaders may change activity plans based on site conditions and specific management needs.

Invasive plants are the greatest threat to healthy natural plant communities that can support diverse wildlife in the park system.  JRPS invasive management staff partner with the JRPS Invasive Plant Task Force to focus on specific areas and prioritize specific goals for reducing the harmful impacts of invasive plants. Volunteers are the backbone of this work much of the year.  The mission of the JRPS Invasive Plant Task Force is to foster a thriving park ecosystem through invasive plant species management, restoration of native plant communities, public awareness and citizen involvement.
