Event Details

Help remove invasive plants and “free trees” in Pony Pasture to restore habitat and support wildlife!

(Please register for this event on Hands On Greater Richmond If you have difficulty registering, please contact Laura Greenleaf at laura@jamesriverpark.org).

This fall and winter we will work at different sites on different activities including cutting down invasive shrubs, pulling invasive vine groundcover, and “freeing trees” from invasive vines. For some activities, volunteers will not use any tools, for others they will use pruners, handsaws, and/or loppers.

Volunteers MUST:

  • Arrive on time for orientation and training and to reach the work site.
  • Dress appropriately in long-sleeves and long pants.  Yoga pants, leggings, and other styles that snag are discouraged.
  • Bring a water bottle.
  • Tools and work gloves are provided.

Please, if you register for this event and then are unable to attend, cancel your registration on Hands-On or otherwise notify the project leader.

Meeting location will be at different areas of the parking lot depending on the work site for the day. Look for project leader with tools and supplies near a pick-up truck.  Call or text 804-629-1229 to reach project leader.
