Clear invasive plants in Pony Pasture to restore habitat and support wildlife!
Work with the JRPS and other volunteers to improve the ecological health of these important park system woodlands.
We will be manually pulling invasive vine ground cover in the Rockfalls Creek Restoration Area near the Pony Pasture entrance. Volunteers will not need to use tools. Meet by the pedestrian bridge leading to the restroom facility to the right as you enter the parking lot.
Your project leader will be Megan Lowe, Americorps member and support to the JRPS invasive plant management team. If you need to reach Megan, contact her at 804-814-9758.
We provide work gloves, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
Volunteers MUST:
- Arrive on time for orientation and training and to reach the work site.
- Dress appropriately in long-sleeves and long pants. Yoga pants, leggings, and other styles that snag are discouraged.
- Wear STURDY closed-toe shoes or boots that you don’t mind getting dirty or possibly wet
- Bring a water bottle.
Please, if you register for this event and then are unable to attend, cancel your registration on Hands-On or otherwise notify the project leader.
Meeting location will be in the parking lot, near the pedestrian bridge leading to the restroom facility.
