This event requires registration with HandsOn Greater Richmond. HandsOn Greater Richmond | Free-A-Tree at Huguenot Flatwater (Riverside Drive/Oxford Parkway lot) (handsonrva.org)
PLEASE NOTE: DIFFERENT MEET-UP LOCATION
Location is small parking lot on Riverside Drive by trailhead–just east of Huguenot Bridge and across Riverside Drive from Oxford Parkway. NOT the large parking lot/boat launch at the Southampton Road park entrance.
.
Volunteers will use small hand tools–pruners and handsaws–to cut winter creeper and English ivy vines climbing trees and then clear a buffer around the base of each tree.
Tools and work gloves provided, but if you prefer to bring your own, feel free to bring them (labeling them with your name recommended).
VOLUNTEERS MUST:
- Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts (strongly recommended), and sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots (clothing should completely cover ankles). Leggings are discouraged.
- Bring a water bottle.
- Arrive on time for orientation and to reach work site.
Insect repellant and sunscreen also recommended.
