Richmond’s Department of Parks & Recreation recently inspected the pedestrian bridge that leads to Texas Beach. They found several structural deficiencies and made the decision that it was unsafe. Sadly, until we can come up with a solution, they have closed Texas Beach. Rest assured, we are working diligently with Park staff and the Department to expedite a repair/replacement. While this comes at the beginning of a holiday weekend, it is in the interest of safety.
Between our time in the Park for work, and our time in the Park for fun, we found time to put together and approve our FY 24 budget. Together we will have raised and spent more than $600,000 towards our work to protect, expand, and enhance the Park.
A friend sent us a video he saw a few days ago. It shows a group of kayakers out for a leisurely paddle when things go horribly wrong.
