You’re Invited!

We’re very excited to invite you to a ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 14th at 11:30 AM for the opening of the new Nature Exploration Area on Belle Isle!

The City of Richmond’s James River Park System staff has worked closely with the Friends of the James River Park to create a Nature Exploration Area on Belle Isle, and the time has come for it to open to the public! This project has been a labor of love, developed out of the design team listening closely to staff ideas and community needs, and built through collaboration between local company, True Timber, and in-house construction. This play area will provide new access to James River Park for our youngest visitors, welcoming them with a space carefully designed with their needs prioritized. I love that the architecture evokes the rocks and rapids all around the play space, and that the features are built from local material, and I can’t wait for you and the young ones in your life to enjoy it.

We were fortunate and are grateful for the support of numerous partners and supporters from the private sector, our business community, and representatives and officials from the City of Richmond.

See below for a rendering of the Nature Exploration Area and our press release that lists the groups and organizations who made this happen.

Please join us on the 14th!
