Why We Support the James River Park

The Friends of the James River Park was established by a dedicated group of citizens in 1999 as an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that works in partnership with the Park staff to promote, conserve and support the Park. The Friends encourages public participation in support of this regional treasure by raising funds for programs, maintenance, and restoration projects. We also advocate to increase awareness and civil support for the Park.

Meeting the needs of the James River Park goes beyond the abilities of individual volunteers. Non-profit groups such as the Friends of the James River Park work on behalf of all visitors to keep the Park scenic and special. In turn, FOJRP relies on donations from Park lovers to make educational and enrichment activities available, to supplement park budgets, to fund improvements and general maintenance, and to protect the JRPS for future generations.

Your financial gifts are key to our ongoing work to support this chronically underfunded and understaffed park.
