Join Us on September 9th!

Here’s a little-known fact from American Music History:

On August 28th of 1970, legendary rock band Deep Purple was scheduled to play a concert in an arena in San Antonio, Texas. The day of the show, Richie Blackmore, their iconic founder, guitarist and songwriter fell deathly ill with the flu. As the band contemplated canceling their concert, the local promoter said, “Wait. I know a guy. He loves your band, and he’s an amazing guitar player.”

And that’s how the master of Yacht Rock – Christopher Cross – spent an evening playing lead guitar for one of the greatest heavy metal bands in history.

If you’re a fan of the majesty of Yacht Rock, or mystified by the quirkiness of the Talking Heads, or revel in the catalog of Tom Petty, you’ll want to join us on September 9th on Brown’s Island for “Take Me to the River.” This fantastic event, brought to you by the Broadberry Entertainment Group, the Richmond Area Honda Dealers, and in support of our mission, will feature fantastic drinks, a seafood-themed food truck court, and more – all on the banks of the glorious James River.
