Get Healthy in the Outdoors

The number one benefit of outdoor activity is stress reduction with walking topping out as the number one activity. JRPS encompasses over 600 acres of parkland, with boating, biking, running, fishing, walking and volunteering just a few of the outdoor opportunities available to park users.

Published information on the effects of regular outdoor activity can:

  • Improve memory and creativity
  • Increase confidence and self-esteem
  • Relax and calm the mind
  • Promote weight loss
  • Lower blood pressure

The JRPS Education Staff provides Adventures & Skills Instruction Classes and Environmental Science & History Tours to the public. Programs are held year-round and registration is required for most events. Program fees or donations help support programs for under-served youth and elementary school students in Richmond.

Why not make 2018 the year you get outdoors? For more information, contact Penelope Davenport.
