Mayor Stoney All Smiles on His First Rafting Trip Down the James

Mayor Levar Stoney took some time to go rafting on June 16 with representatives from FOJRP, JRA, James River Park staff, Historic Falls of the James Scenic River Advisory Committee, rvaMORE and JROC.

It was the Mayor’s first time whitewater rafting and he had a blast. The trip began at Pony Pasture and concluded at the 14th Street Takeout, with a stop for a snack of ham biscuits, deviled eggs, fruit, trail mix, brownies and cookies on Belle Isle. Just as important, Mayor Stoney got to experience first hand the best the James River has to offer and gained a better understanding of the importance the river and the James River Park System play in the lives of area residents.

Thanks to all who made this happen and special thanks to Riverside Outfitters for donating the trip.
