Event Details

Join The James River Park System as we tackle removing invasive plants from The Wetlands. We will be focusing on removing English Ivy, Winter Creeper and other invasive plants. Be a part of this initiative to help restore The James River Park’s natural habitat and tree canopy! Volunteers will be using small hand tools such as loppers and hand saws. All tools and gloves will be provided by JRPS. Please feel free to bring your favorite tool from home and a pair of gloves that you already own. Please bring water and a snack, wear closed toe shoes and dress comfortably as we will be outside for the duration of the project. Regardless of the weather, we strongly recommend wearing long sleeves and long pants to protect yourself from plants such as briars and poison ivy. We look forward to working with you! In the event of storms or heavy rain, this event will be canceled.

There is parking along the right hand side of Landria Drive leading up to the entrance of the park. We will meet at the entrance at 10 am to walk to our target site together. Please arrive by 10am so that you can receive your orientation, tools, and walk with the group. Please note, this park does not have a bathroom facility.

Youth under 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the youth waiver: Youth Waiver Form. It can be emailed in advance to gera@jamesriverpark.org or printed and brought to the event. This applies whether or not youth are accompanied by an adult.
