This March, April, and May at Pony Pasture we will be focusing on Free-A-Tree work in the two main trail corridors.
Please register on Hands On Greater Richmond: https://www.handsonrva.org/partner-portal/volunteer-opportunity-details/a0N5c00000TD9ySEAT
Work with a JRPS invasive plant manager and other volunteers to control invasive vines overtaking trees in the park. Volunteers will use hand tools–pruners, loppers, and handsaws–to cut wintercreeper and English ivy vines climbing trees before clearing a buffer around the base of each tree.
We will meet at the east end of the parking lot, near the picnic tables, and walk to the work site.
VOLUNTEERS MUST:
- Arrive on time
- Wear long sleeves and long pants that completely cover the ankles (leggings and any material that easily snags are discouraged)
- Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots
- Bring water
Please, if you register for this event and then are unable to attend, cancel your registration on Hands-On.
