This spot was a major port in the massive Slave Trade that made Richmond the largest source of enslaved Africans on the east coast of America from 1830 to 1860. For decades, a chemical plant operated here, but successful remediation and restoration have made it a prime fishing spot, and is where anglers compete during the annual run of native shad.
