It's James River Week!

Join the James River Association as it celebrates James River Week with a host of events happening up and down the James River, including naturalist tours, salamander salutations (yoga), and an Atlantic Sturgeon tour, among other events. More information available here:
Manchester Climbing Wall Clean Up
Join the Friends, along with several other organizations, including Peak Experiences and the American Alpine Club, for a clean up at the Manchester Climbing Wall on Saturday September 18 at 8 AM. Bring gloves, water, and wear close-toed shoes.

Nominate a River Hero and Join us for our Annual Celebration!
This annual event, to be held on October 5th, recognizes individuals whose exemplary work in the areas of preservation, education and promotion support the mission of the Friends of the James River Park and the James River Park System. Tickets are $35 or two for $60. Please join us as we honor this year's outstanding individuals while enjoying an evening of fellowship, heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages.
Nominations are open for the annual Ralph White River Hero Award, sponsored by The Friends of the James River Park. This award acknowledges and honors individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to James River Park. The deadline is September 22nd. Nominate someone today:

Films on the Floodwall | September 13, 6:00 p.m. 
Films on the Floodwall is a free community film screening organized by the James River Advisory Council, James River Outdoor Coalition, and James River Association during James River Week. The event is held at Diversity Park in the James River Park System on September 13 from 6-9 PM. The event will feature locally-produced films highlighting conservation, parks and public spaces, and wildlife and ecosystems. Films will be projected on the floodwall. Bring a chair! The James River 'Trails and Ales' Run/Brew Fest | September 16, 4:30 p.m.
A celebration of Richmond's urban trail system and popular craft brewery culture, Trails and Ales presented by Capital Ale House is set for Saturday, September 16th and will take place in Manchester (W. 10th Street and Semmes Avenue) adjacent to the SunTrust Mortgage offices, at 4:30 p.m. Registration available here.

Watch-Read-Reflect: Land, People & Community events | September 17 & 24
Join the Capital Region Land Conservancy for Land, People, & Community: A Sand County Almanac Revisited. There will be a screening of the documentary "Green Fire: Aldo Leopold and a Land Ethic for Our Time, then break into small groups to read aloud
and discuss the meaning of excerpts from Leopold's seminal work A Sand County Almanac. The discussion includes how Leopold's philosophy pertains to our own lives and work and the future of conservation in the Richmond region. Locations include REI and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Crossroads Fundraiser | September 24 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
On Sept. 24, Crossroads (3600 Forest Hill Ave.) will be donating a percentage of its sales between 3-6 PM to the Park! Drop by to enjoy a cold beer and a bite while supporting the Park! More information available here:
