XTERRA Weekend + Sweet Bike Raffle
We'll be in the Luck Stone tent this weekend, June 9-10th on Brown's Island and would love to see you!

With a generous donation from 3Sports, Luck Stone is raffling off a RockHopper Comp 29 mountain bike, an $1100 value, to benefit the Friends! Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. You can get them at the Luck Stone tent during XTERRA (and get one of Ralph's inimitable park brochures as a thank you) or pick them up Riverside Outfitters or 3Sports. Good luck and may your ticket number be called!

Saturday in the Park with Trash
This Saturday is JRAC's big James River Clean up all up and down the river. The pre-registration time has passed, but help is always needed at Reedy Creek Park Headquarters to cook lunch for volunteers and sort through the trash that comes our way from 11 a.m. on to find the treasures of recyclable materials. SO much fun to get up to your elbows in crud! You won't be turned away at Pony Pasture or Reedy Creek if you show up willing to work, starting at 9 a.m.
Wear your FOJRP t-shirts to spread the word about the Friends!

Fab LIcense Plates Now @ DMV
Here's your big chance to get the license plate of your dreams with little waiting! You can go right now to the DMV page (much more fun than going to the DMV itself) and order up your new plate online in less than 4 minutes (according to DMV)!

Once we get 1000 JRPS plates on the road, FoJRP will get $15 of the $25 specialty plate fee. Show your love of Richmond's jewel on the James and make every other car on the road look shabby by comparison!

River Heroes Reign at the Pumphouse!
So happy our 2012 River Heroes, Greg Velzy and Bob Steidel, could be at our annual picnic, held Saturday at the majestically shabby Pumphouse. As the Director of Public Utilities for the city of Richmond, Bob is always figuring out ways to make the river cleaner and more accessible, and in his many river-related roles, including his work with JROC, Chesterfield County, and Falls of the James Advisory Board, Greg is always showing and telling people how to take care of--and play in-- the river. Thanks so much, gentlemen!

Thanks to The Boathouse at Rockett's Landing, Discover the James and Real Richmond for the generous donations of gift certificates. And thanks also to TaZa Coffee & Cream and Riverside Outfitters for their much appreciated (and squealed over!) door prize donations.
Our Heroes, Bob Steidel and Greg Velzy, with FOJRP co-president Betsy Slade.
