FoJRP Wine Wednesday, Nov. 10th at
The BoathouseWe're feeling sociable these days, so please join us next Wednesday, November 10th from 6-8 p.m. at The Boathouse at Rockett's Landing. They'll offer free wine-tasting, and we'll do lots of appetizer-grazing and river-gazing as we soak in the lovely views of the James River and downtown Richmond. Our friends at The Boathouse will be donating 20% of every Watershed Oyster Special sold to FOJRP, so help us help us! Half-off selected glasses and bottles of wine, and everyone who has turned in a completed James River Park System license plate application gets a free glass of wine! Hope to see you and all your friends (whether they are FOJRP members or not) at 4708 E. Main Street next Wednesday! Click the link below for all the details.

License Plate Alert
It's 5 o'clock. Do you know where your James River Park System license plate application is? Perhaps in a pile of paper in your home or crumpled in your car? Maybe it haunts you while you're sleeping because you know you've meant to fill it out and send it in, but the thought of pulling out your car registration to get the title number is debilitating. We know because we've had the same feeling, but it doesn't have to be this way. FOJRP has the cure for what ails you because once you do fill out the one page application and send it in to us, you will feel renewed and refreshed (and, let's face it, superior). We would give you a medal except we're waiting to have VDOT make that beautiful license plate out of metal and send it to you instead.
You want to be one of the first with the lovely scene of the James River and Atlantic Coast Railway bridge on your vehicle. We'll all sleep better when your application is safe and sound in our P.O. Box with a check for $25 or $35 attached. Everything you need is right here: JRPS License Plate application and info Thanks for your help in getting us the 350 completed applications we need by January's General Assembly session. If you'd like to pitch in by passing out apps at your neighborhood association or business, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rest assured, if you are one of our loyal (and very patient) members who ordered a plate nearly a year ago, your application is on file and will be submitted to VDOT once we hit 350 completed apps. Thank You!
Updates and Opportunities
Sunday, November 14th at 1 p.m. we'll be gathering at the Pony Pasture parking lot to do a post-marathon clean-up of the Pony Pasture and Riverside Drive down to Huguenot Flatwater. Bring trashbags and wear gloves and shoes that like to get muddy. If we get a good crowd, we can finish up in well under two hours, but you're welcome to come for whatever time you can spare. Thanks!
Every Thursday in December, the Friends will be the appreciative, even jolly, beneficiaries of Capital Ale House's Community Chest project. Every Thursday in that busy month we'll be the recipient of 25% of food sales from anyone who brings this FOJRP/Capital Ale House flyer to any Capital Ale House location. More on this later.
Our next Board meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 7th at 6 p.m. We're hoping to be back at the Reedy Creek Park Headquarters once the renovations are complete. We love seeing members at the meetings. You can meet our newest Board members, Michael White and John Antonietta, and see how you might get involved. Michael recently moved to Richmond from Florida with his wife and has jumped right in. John has been a devoted park user for years. You might see him running along the park trails with his two peppy dogs. We're excited to have these two gentlemen aboard the board!
